Ethel Cannon Obituary

Ethel H. B. Cannon NORFOLK - Ethel H. Brinkley Cannon, 93, went home to be with the Lord April 4, 2010. She was born in Princess Anne County, Virginia and resided in Norfolk most of her life. She is survived by a son, David L. Brinkley Jr. of Alta Loma, Calif., and daughter, Barbara Brinkley Morse of Williamsburg, Va. Also surviving are five beloved grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Surviving also are two stepchildren from her marriage to William Glenn Cannon, who preceded her in death, William G. Cannon Jr. and Ann Cannon Jennings and through this marriage the gift of four stepgrandchildren. Two of her many achievements include: 56 years of dedicated and enjoyable involvement with the Extension Homemaker's Club of Virginia and her loving, supportive work in the Presbyterian Church since 1944. A funeral will be held at Altmeyer's Funeral Home, Saturday, April 10, located at 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Viewing will be from 9 to 10 a.m. with a service from 10 to 11 a.m. and graveside burial immediately following at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach. The Rev. Mark Bender is officiating. After the interment, family and friends will gather for a reception at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church, 150 Kempsville Road, Norfolk, VA 23502. Arrangements are under the care of Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23451. Condolences may be sent through www.altmeyer.com.
