Marshall Woodhouse Obituary

Marshall Woodhouse Sr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Marshall Raymond Woodhouse Sr., 76, passed away April 10, 2010. He was born May 17, 1933, in Princess Anne County, Virginia to the late Frank Woodhouse and Irene Griffin-McCoy. At an early age, he joined New Oak Grove Baptist Church. Marshall was a faithful member of the New Greater Mount Sinai Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board until his death. He retired from the city of Virginia Beach after 25 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Betty Jean Woodhouse of 53 years and two daughters, Joyce Whitehurst and Gloria Woodhouse. Left to cherish his memory are his five sons, Marshall Jr. and Frank of Norfolk, Gary, Keith (Odessa), and Eric (Cheryl), all of Virginia Beach; four daughters, Wanda Hall (Ray) of Chesapeake, Janice and Shelia of Virginia Beach, and Betty of Norfolk; son-in-law, Moses Whitehurst Jr. of Clinton, Md.; two sisters, Joyce Etheridge of Virginia Beach, Shirley Wellington (Alton) of Como, N.C.; a stepsister, Ada Brockett of Virginia Beach; and a stepbrother, John Tillett Sr. (Vivian) of Chesapeake; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Oak Grove Baptist Church located at 3200 Head of River Road with the Rev. Hubert Wilson presiding. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today in Community Funeral Home, Norfolk.
