Sylvia Kalichman Obituary

Sylvia R. Kalichman VIRGINIA BEACH - Sylvia R. Kalichman, 88, passed away April 13, 2010. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Martin Kalichman. She is survived by her son, Michael J. Kalichman and his wife Martha Kalichman of Richmond, Va.; her daughter, Nettie Kalichman and her husband, James Stanfield of Knotts Island, N.C.; four grandchildren, Joshua Kalichman of Bowling Green, Ohio, Sarah Kalichman of Harrisonburg, Va., Christina Stanfield of Carlisle, Pa., and Lonnie Jarvis of Luray, Va. Sylvia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an active member of Temple Emanuel in Virginia Beach, where she was involved in the Sisterhood and enjoyed participating in the choral group in previous years. In the 1990s, she participated with her husband in the city, state, and national Senior Olympics and won medals in basketball and bowling. In past years she and her husband also enjoyed ballroom dancing. In recent years she enjoyed playing mahjong and spending time with her dear friends in the Sunday Brunch Bunch. A graveside service will be conducted Friday, April 16, at 2 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, King David Gardens Section, by Rabbi Howard Mandell. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Temple Emanuel or the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad. Online condolences may be sent to hdoliver.com.
