Elizabeth McCoy Obituary

Elizabeth L. C. McCoy NORFOLK - Elizabeth Louise Carney "Snooks" McCoy, 88, of the 200 block of Poplar Ave., passed away April 9, 2010 at Chesapeake Health Care Center. She was born April 18, 1921 to the late Hosey and Gertrude Carney in Hodges Ferry, Va. Mrs. McCoy was a 1940 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Berkley. She was a retired food service worker with the Norfolk public school system. She was predeceased by a son, Stephen C. McCoy Sr. and a sister, Evelyn Carney. She is survived by her husband, Lonnie "Bubba" McCoy; three grandchildren, Stephen McCoy (Marsha), Sean McCoy and Stephanie McCoy Battle (Eric); six great- grandchildren; niece, Shirley Pemberton (John); nephew, Rudolph Carney; great- nephew, Rudolph Gregory; a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at noon Saturday in Mount Zion Baptist Church, 900 Middlesex St. Dr. Charles Hart will officiate. Entombment will be at Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at 203 Poplar Ave. one hour prior to service for procession to the church. Condolences may be offered at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.

My condolences to my extended family, the McCoy's! Ms. Elizabeth was a sweet woman who truly loved God and adored her family. I don't remember ever seeing her without a big, bright smile on her face! Be comforted in knowing that she is resting in the arms of the Savior.
