Donald Yager Obituary

Donald M. Yager STANARDSVILLE - Donald Milroy Yager, 68, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010, at the McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond. Don was born Sept. 8, 1941 in Chicago, son of the late Monty Yager and Harriett Pulaski Yager. He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 17 years, Jane Yager; five children, Donald S. Yager of Virginia Beach, Dale B. Yager of Pittsburgh, Roxanne Derlinga and her husband Tom of East Granby, Conn., Kimberly Litman and her husband Dan of Raleigh, N.C., Patrick Rath and his wife Kim of Stanardsville; eight grandchildren, Courtney Yager, Brendan Yager, Haley Derlinga, Paige Derlinga, Stephanie Litman, Justin Litman, Austin Rath and Logan Rath. Don served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Throughout his career in law enforcement, Don was employed with the Norfolk City Police, Isle of Wight Sheriff's Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. He was employed as a welder at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Don also had his own private investigations company for many years and also served as a reserve deputy for the Greene County Sheriff's Department. Don enjoyed boating, collecting guns, gold prospecting and ham radios. He had a lifelong interest in model trains of all sizes. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at the Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, Va., with Tracy Tucker officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fisher House Foundation, 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, MD 20850 - 5168, fisherhouse. org.
