John Harding Obituary

John E. Harding VIRGINIA BEACH - John E. Harding passed away Friday, April 23, 2010, in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 28, 1927 in Pryor, Okla., the son of the late Roy and Mary Marshall Harding. He was retired from Travelers Insurance Co. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran having served in World War II. He enjoyed being involved in many sports involving his family. He instilled his love of music, literature, and crossword puzzles in his children. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, his greatest love was his family. John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeanne Harding; his son, Scott Harding and wife Kathy of Tryon, N.C.; his two daughters, Stephanie Neumann and husband Rich of Spring Branch, Texas, Gaye Custer and husband Mike of Chesapeake. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Heather (Dan), Meredith (Ed), Jeremy (Diana), Adria (Matthew), Courtney (Kyle), Shannon (Anthony), Andrew and Evan; and six great- grandchildren, Kyleigh, Brayden, Carter, Brielle, Aubrey and Tucker. The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 26, Hickory United Methodist Church, 2708 S. Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake. The Rev. Thomas Mercer will officiate. Viewing and visitation with the family will begin at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made in John's name to the Hickory United Methodist Church Building Fund or to your local chapter of the Animal Rescue League. Jeanne, I was so sorry to hear of your loss when we ran into each other yesterday walking our respective "doxies". Reading above John sounds like a wonderful man and I know your heart is broken. Please remember to take good care of yourself. If you need anything at all, I am at 3904 Peyton Way.

We were very sorry to learn about Mr Harding's death. Know he is going to be missed by his family and friends. I just saw him a church a couple weeks ago, I think. Did not know he had been ill. God bless you and your families.
