Annie Kittrell NORFOLK - Annie Beatrice "Belle" (Hawley) Kittrell, 80, of the 3000 block of St. Mihiel Ave., transitioned to her home in heaven on the morning of April 24, 2010. She was at home surrounded by family. Annie was born Aug. 29, 1929 in Oxford, N.C., to the late W. Luscious Hawley and Martha Jane (Smith) Hawley. She was the youngest of 12 siblings. Her surviving siblings include her sister, Emma Dawes, Toney Hawley and Ila Burt, all of Oxford. Annie married the late Ira Kittrell Sept. 26, 1946 and together they had three children. Annie was educated in the Granville county public schools. She joined the family church as a child at New Hope Granville Missionary Baptist, and joined Huntsville Baptist after she married. Annie lived the majority of her adult life in Red Bank, N.J., where she careered as a nanny. Her hobbies were enjoying family and friends, gardening, cooking, and loving life. In 1995, she moved to Norfolk, to be closer to her children. She enjoyed visiting family in different areas and traveling with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren all over the United States. She rededicated her life to Christ this past year and joined Trinity Baptist in Chesapeake. After a courageous spiritual battle with cancer, Annie has graduated with her wings and joined her home in heaven. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Danny (Brenda) Kittrell Sr. of Korea; daughters and son-in-laws, Maxcine (Edward) Smith of Jacksonville, N.C., and Ivy (Michael) Battle of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Danny (Diane) Kittrell Jr. of Adamstown, Md., Nicole (Charles) Hunter of Durham, N.C., Tavané and Nekida Battle of Chesapeake, Terrell Kittrell of Bloomfield, N.M., Sedric Kittrell of Fort Worth, Texas and Charles Smith of Jacksonville, N.C. Annie had nine great-grandchildren, Ebony, Danny III and Isaiah Kittrell, Lauryn and Cameron Hunter, Sedric Kittrell Jr. and Devion and Sahles Kittrell and Tayjah Smith. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 28, at J.T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake, from 4 until 7 p.m. A life celebration service will be held at Huntsville Baptist Church on Highway 96 in Oxford, N.C., on Saturday, May 1, at 1 p.m. The family has entrusted J.T.
