Curtis Norman Obituary

Curtis J. Norman NORFOLK - Mrs. Curtis "Kurkee" Jones Norman, formerly of Exeter Road in Norfolk, and widow of Worth E. "Doc" Norman, died Sunday, April 25, 2010 at a nursing home in Falls Church, Va. A native of Lawrenceville, Va., and the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Jones, she attended Chowan College and was graduated from Old Dominion University. She was a poet, a retired classroom teacher of the Norfolk City School system, a member of Norview United Methodist Church, the Esther Nicholson Bible Class, Sally Browne Circle and Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Norman Williams (George) of Monsey, N.Y., Jenny Norman Sullivan (Daniel) of Arlington, Va.; a son, the Rev. Worth E. "Woody" Norman Jr. (Patricia) of Birmingham, Ala.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Norview United Methodist Church by the Rev. Wm. Joe Shepherd on Friday, April 30, at 10 a.m. in the morning. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, at 8464 Tidewater Drive from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 29. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Norview United Methodist Church, 1112 Norview Ave., Norfolk, VA 23513.
