Norma Lauer Obituary

Norma L. Lauer PORTSMOUTH - Norma Lee Nixon Lauer passed on Sunday, April 25, after a courageous battle with cancer. Norma was predeceased by her parents, Bessie and Norman Nixon, and a brother, Ray Nixon. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert F. Lauer and her sons Robert F. Lauer Jr. of Portsmouth, Christopher T. Lauer (his wife, Robin, and children, Sydney and Nicholas) of Chesapeake, and Mark S. Lauer of New York City; her brother, C. Elliott Nixon; her sister, Bonnie Sterlachini (her husband, Michael), and other relatives and friends. Norma was a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, a member of its Joy Class and the Dana Tyson Circle. Norma was a loving and kind wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt and friend to all. Norma will be greatly missed; God rest her in peace. The family wishes to thank all who supported them, especially their church family. A special thanks to Dr. Kevin Wilson, Dr. Snehal Damle, Wanda Smith and Felishia Patterson. Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, is handling all arrangements. Visitation at the funeral home will be today from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. A service will be held at Aldersgate UMC on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., followed by burial at Olive Branch Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and to honor Sydney, Nicholas and the church youth, the family requests gifts to be given to the Aldersgate Youth Program (please indicate "Youth") at: Aldersgate UMC, 4320 Bruce Road, Chesapeake, VA 23321. From the window of our heart we see the road you are traveling at this time, we know it is most difficult and there are no words that can erase your pain or ease this cross you must bear but only on Christ Jesus can you lean and He will truly bring you through.
