Ellen Gwaltney Obituary

Ellen Gwaltney CHESAPEAKE - Ellen Gwaltney, 76, died May 1, 2010 in Norfolk. She was born in Portsmouth and was the widow of Ernest J. Gwaltney Sr. She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Other memberships include the Red Hatters, Senior Station and community activist. Survivors include a brother, Leslie Williams (Theresa); three aunts, Victoreen Ford of Brooklyn, N.Y., Blanche Worrell of Red Hook, N.Y., and Ellen B. Faircloth of Portsmouth; and a host of other relatives. A funeral will be held Friday, May 7, at 10 a.m. in New Hope Baptist Church, 1317 Gust Lane, Chesapeake, with Pastor Sammie L. Logan III presiding. Burial will follow in Roosevelt Memorial Park. A wake will be held Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. in Corprew Funeral Home.

mrs gwaltney very nice person whom i known since i was child growing up in st julian creek. my mother marie johnson spoke highly of mrs gwaltney when she was alive. tony johnson
