Adele Bruce

Adele Vann Bruce VIRGINIA BEACH - Adele Vann Bruce, loving mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her, went to be with the Lord May 21, 2010. A native of Conway, N.C., she was born Dec. 18, 1919 to the late Elijah and Sadie Vann. Adele was a member of Spurgeon Memorial Baptist Church since 1942. She worked at Southland Cork and retired from Norfolk School System as a special needs bus driver. She delivered with Meals on Wheels for 13 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, James M. Bruce; her daughter, Jacquelyn B. Linkenhoger; and brothers, Ivey Mason Vann, Laurie Vann and Charlie Woolard Vann. Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Bruce of Virginia Beach; her granddaughter, Jennifer Linkenhoger Howell; two great- grandchildren, Colton Garrett Howell and Landon Thomas Howell of Eastman, Ga. Friends and family will be received at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Lawson and the Rev. Eslie Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
