Margaret Hagwood Obituary

Margaret Q. Hagwood PORTSMOUTH - Margaret Qualls Hagwood, 84, went to be with the Lord May 23, 2010. Born Oct. 6, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Tracy C. Qualls and Ethel H. Qualls and sister of the late Carlton, Quinton, James and Phil Qualls. She was the beloved wife of Akey Mahlon Hagwood Jr., their 63rd wedding anniversary would have been celebrated on June 8. Mrs. Hagwood is also survived by her five children, Marsha Murrell and husband Richard, Denise Grothaus and her late husband Kim, Mel Hagwood and wife Tracey, Tracey Tokarcik and husband Ron and Todd Hagwood; 12 grandchildren; and five great -grandchildren. Mrs. Hagwood was a member of Churchland Baptist Church. Through the years, she worked at Seaboard Railroad, downtown Portsmouth, served in the Sterling Point Gardens Club, Ladies Auxiliary at Portsmouth General Hospital, and secretary of Portsmouth Professional Women's Club. Along with her husband, they owned and operated several small food businesses in the Portsmouth/ Norfolk area. Before retiring as a realtor in 1997, she had many accomplishments, including CRS and GRI certifications, winner of the Platinum Award, Sales Achievement Winner, 1989 Realtor of the Year and the President of the Portsmouth/Chesapeake Board of Realtors. She was considered by her peers as an outstanding professional in her field. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A visitation will be held Thursday, May 27, at Baker- Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk, starting at noon followed by a service at 1:30 p.m. celebrating Margaret's life and homegoing. The Rev. Phil Qualls, brother of Mrs. Hagwood, will officiate. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Mausoleum, Chesapeake. Condolences may be registered at www. bakerfoster.com.

Marsha and Family,
I have thought of you often and remember your Mom from our teenage years(adventures). I have wondered where you are. I'm back on Hodges Ferry rd., again.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. May god bless you and yours with His loving care.
