Billie Bobbitt Obituary

Billie Gail Shaw Bobbitt VIRGINIA BEACH - Billie Gail Shaw Bobbitt, 48, went to be with the Lord on May 24, 2010 at her residence. Billie was born July 15, 1961, the only daughter of John "Tom" Shaw and Mary Elizabeth Martin Shaw. She attended Fort Lauderdale Oral School, graduated from Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind in Staunton and graduated from J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College. Billie was employed with the federal government for 27 years, working in various commands. Over the last 10 years, she worked as an office automation assistant in the Norfolk Fleet & Family Support Center's Family Advocacy Program. She was a dedicated professional and will be greatly missed by her "Navy Family." Mrs. Bobbitt was a member of Harvest Outreach Church and was loved greatly by her church family. She was involved in the silent dinners for the deaf in Hampton Roads. She is survived by her only son, Shawn Thomas Bobbitt; her father, John T. Shaw and her very special "Aunt Rivers." She leaves behind a host of cousins that she cherished. Special thanks are extended to her friends of Hermitage Point, her dedicated caregivers, her church family and her closest friends, John H. and Amy Williams and family. A funeral will be held Friday, May 28, at 11 a.m. in Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. Officiating pastors are the Rev. Archie R. Callahan and Nelson Fields Jr. Family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.woodlawngroup.com.
