Nancy Whitfield Obituary

Nancy Turner Whitfield SUFFOLK - Nancy Turner Whitfield, 81, passed away May 29, 2010. She was the daughter of Ernest M. and Clara Mullins Turner. She was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Joseph Carroll "J.C." Whitfield. She retired after 30 years of service as a lab tech for the USDA Tidewater Research Station. Nancy was a member of Holland Baptist Church, the Dorcus Sunday school class, and the Grand Age Club. She was also a member of the Senior Circle, Southampton chapter. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy W. and Eddie Berson of Portsmouth; sons and daughter-in-law, Ernest C. and Alice Whitfield of Beaverton, Ore., Dennis L. and Nancy Whitfield of Virginia Beach; sister, Bessie Ramsey Boylan of Collinsville, Va.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, Tuesday, June 1, from 7 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville, Va., on Wednesday, June 2, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Bunn officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holland Baptist Church. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
