Mary Elizabeth Griffin NORFOLK - Mary Elizabeth Plum Griffin passed away at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital on Monday, June 7, 2010, at the age of 69 after a valiant fight against cancer. She was a talented artist whose effervescent personality both entertained and enlightened those who knew her. Elizabeth was predeceased by one brother, Pete Plum of Greeneville, Tenn. A special expression of appreciation is extended to Dr. Acostamadiedo and the staff of Outer Banks Hematology and Oncology, the Outer Banks Hospital and the members of its Ambulatory Medical Unit, her niece, Diane Holliday of Bristol, Va., who provided Elizabeth with loving care and support throughout her illness, and the many friends who never ceased to assist Elizabeth and her family when help was needed. The family will be receiving friends Friday, June 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home on Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 12, at 1 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. Donations may be made in Elizabeth's name to the Outer Banks Cancer Support Group, 245 N. Elizabeth was such a fun person to be around. Even when she was sick, she would make a joke to lighten the mood. We have many memories of being with Al and Elizabeth at Va. Natural Gas events in the past. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.
