Donald Nethery Obituary

Donald Nethery NORFOLK - Donald Nethery, 79, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2010. He was retired from the City of Norfolk after 29 years as an accountant with the City Comptrollers Office. Born in Halifax County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Evelyn Stephenson Radford and Powie T. Neathery. Mr. Nethery was a U.S. Air Force veteran where he served in the Aleutian Islands during the Korean Conflict. He also attended Christopher Newport University. Left to cherish his memory are his two sisters, Jackie Radford and Brenda Radford; brother, Larry Wayne Radford and his wife Marvin; nieces, Tracy Kancz and her husband John and Tanya Walker and her husband Joey; an uncle, Lonnie G. Stephenson; great-nieces, Nicole Lynn Kancz, Haley Erin Kancz and Meagan Walker; a great-nephew, Alex Walker and an aunt, Gracy S. Mays. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 24, in the Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., on Colonial Avenue by the Rev. Neal Sasser. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. before the service in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local Salvation Army.
