I was saddened to see Katherine's obituary in the paper this morning. I worked with her in the Treasurer's Office and still kept in touch after she retired. I will treasure that last Christmas card I got from her in 2009. She told me that Angel had passed away and that she has a new cat, Sophie. I hope Penny and Sophie are taken care of. Miss you, Katherine!

You will be greatly missed!
Katherine had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people smile. She was also a noted marksman. While she was a teenager, she won a Canadian - US shooting championship and the newspaper said about her: "Southern Annie Oakley Wins Championship!".

Katherine was a very kind soft spoken lady. I missed her when she retired from the City of Virginia Beach. She was always a pleasure to talk to and I have thought of her often. She will be greatly missed.
