Joe Bynum Obituary

Joe H. Bynum PORTSMOUTH - Deacon Joe H. Bynum departed this life June 21, 2010 to be with the Lord after a period of illness. He was a faithful, respectful and honest servant of God who enjoyed helping anyone he encountered. He retired from the City of Portsmouth as a truck driver. He was the son of the late Mr. Joe and Mrs. Lillian Horne Bynum of Wilson, N.C. He will be greatly missed. He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Joe Houston; a devoted caregiver, Janey Harrington; a lifetime friend, Thelma Bynum Small; devoted Pastor Willie Mae Beamon and church family, Full Gospel Church of Christ, all of Portsmouth; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Katherine Horne of Wilson, N.C.; two brothers, Bishop Willie J. Bynum of Suffolk and Arthur Lee Horne of Richmond, Va. Homegoing services will be held Saturday, June 26, at 11 a.m. in Pentecostal Followers of Christ Church, 9018 Whaleyville Blvd., Suffolk. The family will line up at 9:15 a.m. at the deceased's home church, 2129 Chestnut St., Portsmouth. Bishop Ray Bynum is the eulogist. Visitation with the family will be held today from 6 to 7 p.m. at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth.
