Ruby Trent Obituary

Ruby C. Trent CHESAPEAKE - Ruby Munson Culpepper Trent, 86, passed away July 4, 2010 in Suffolk. She was predeceased by two husbands, Marvin V. Culpepper Sr. and Harry E. Trent Jr.; a son, Michael C. Culpepper of Chesapeake and a brother, Charles Munson of Suffolk. She is survived by a son, Marvin V. Culpepper and wife Betty of Chesapeake, a daughter, Gayle Culpepper Hughes and husband Bill of Chesapeake; stepdaughter, Anne Pitt of Virginia Beach; five granddaughters, Lisa Coleman and husband Joey of Newport, N.C., Cherie Mathews and husband Mike of Chesapeake, Heather Culpepper of Chesapeake, Melanie Paskelav and husband Rado of Chesapeake, and Meghan Culpepper of San Francisco; six great-grandchildren, Hunter, Abigail, Alexandra, Jonathan, Ethan and Thomas; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Katie and Kyle. She was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church, and the Victory Sunday School Class. She was also a lifetime member of the Chesapeake Hospital Auxiliary and Deep Creek Seniors Club. Ruby was appointed one of the first magistrates of Chesapeake when the Justice of the Peace System changed. She retired after 19 years of service in both systems. She was then appointed marriage commissioner for Chesapeake and performed marriages until October 2009. She also performed the mass weddings for Eagle 97 radio for several years. The family will receive friends at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, today from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Deep Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Ryals officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com.
