William Sears Jr.

William H. Sears Jr. CHESAPEAKE - William H. "Little Brother" Sears Jr., 95, of the 3900 block of Quailshire Lane, passed away July 3, 2010 in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Born in Nansemond County, Virginia, he retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 33 years of service. He was a member of Fourth Baptist Church, Portsmouth, where he served as a deacon and as chairman for more than 18 years until his health failed. He was also member of Order of the Eastern Star, Royal Star 200 and a Mason, Mayflower No. 47. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Murtie E. Sears; one son, Michael Warren (Shirley); one sister, Evelyn S. West; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Pearl Sears and a son, Milton Sears. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Charles Beamon in Fourth Baptist Church, Portsmouth, with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. Viewing will begin Friday at noon.
