Willie Etta Tackett VIRGINIA BEACH - Willie Etta (Waff) Tackett, 78, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 6, 2010 after a short battle with ALS. Mrs. Tackett was born in Edenton, N.C., Sept. 5, 1931. She lived in Virginia and California for most of her life and spent five years with her husband and children as a missionary in the Philippines. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, talented seamstress, quilter and gourmet cook. She spent most of her life doing what she loved most - serving and taking care of her family and others. She was predeceased by a son, Montgomery D. Tackett Jr.; her mother and father, Ernest and Willie Etta Waff; her stepmother, Lillian Waff; a sister, Beatrice Murray; and two siblings. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, the Rev. Montie D. Tackett Sr.; two sons, Bill Tackett and his wife Vicki and Galen Tackett and his wife Vickie; daughter, Lynette Wortham and her husband John; five grandchildren, Jetton, Travis, Ian, Amber and Tyen; four sisters, the Rev. Grace Moore, Betty Hubbard, June Pope and Brenda Johnson; and five brothers, Linwood, Carey, Henry, Wayne and the Rev. Rudy Waff. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 16, at 1 p.m. at Bethel Assembly of God Church, 938 Decatur St., Chesapeake, VA 23324. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
