Donald Campbell Obituary

Donald E. Campbell NORFOLK - Donald Emory Campbell, 81, of Powellsville, N.C., originally from Johnson City, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord and the family that has passed on before him July 13, 2010. He was the son of James L. and Georgia Campbell of Johnson City. Mr. Campbell retired from Virginia Department of Highways and the U.S. Navy after 21 years. A veteran of three wars, Mr. Campbell was also a member of the American Legion and Fleet Reserve. Mr. Campbell loved to play golf. He played in tournaments all over the U.S.A. Don was preceded in death by first wife, Dorothy S. Littlejohn Campbell; son, Donald Eugene Campbell; four brothers; two sisters; a special stepmom Ollie Campbell; and two grandchildren, Dakatah O'Brien and Allysa N. Campbell. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Campbell; three daughters, Regina and husband Bob O'Brien, Carol and estranged husband Ricky Evans and Patricia and husband David Williams; stepchildren, Mike Raymond and Jean Ketner; three brothers, Sidney and wife Carolyn Campbell, Earnest Campbell and Jimmy and wife Brenda Campbell all of Tennessee; a sister, Betty Morton of Asheville, N.C., and stepsister, Gladus and husband Lem of Johnson City; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and a lot of friends all over the world. He never met a stranger. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. The Patriot Riders will lead the family from Hollomon-Brown to Forest Lawn Cemetery for a graveside service with military honors Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 2151 N.
