Katie F. Hill CHESAPEAKE - Katie Fisher Hill, 85, formerly of the 1200 block of Corden Ave. in the Portlock Terrace section where she resided for 53 years, passed away at her daughter's home. A native of Princess Anne County, she was the daughter of the late Wallace Duncan Fisher and Ola Pebworth Fisher and wife for 38 years of the late Julian P. "Jack" Hill Jr. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her 12 siblings, Wallace Fisher, Nellie Brittingham, Bessie Vallastro, Jesse Fisher, Carlton Fisher, Emily Walker, Bennie Fisher, Perry Fisher, Agnes Birdzell, unnamed twin girls, and Arthur Fisher. She is survived by a daughter, Donna K. Hill and her partner Patti Horne of Chesapeake; a son, Michael Craig Hill and his wife Dana of Camden, N.C.; five grandchildren, Ryan Hill, Evan Webb, Megan Hill, Katelan Hill and Michael Hill; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved companion cat, Kiki. As the youngest of 13, Katie grew up in hand-me- downs. She got her first new dress for her high school graduation at Princess Anne High School in 1942. After high school, she moved to South Norfolk where she was employed at J.G. Wilson Corporation working there for 40 years as the bookkeeper in the engineering department. In 1946, she married Jack and they bought their family home on Corden Avenue in 1956. After losing her husband and retiring from J.G. Wilson, Katie became an active bowler in the Spare Time, Fun Time Bowling League with her sister, Emily. She also enjoyed walking with friends at the mall, playing the slots in Atlantic City, and watching "Young and the Restless" and "Wheel of Fortune" while drinking an ice-cold Pepsi and eating a Honey Bun. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Riverside Memorial Park with the family receiving friends at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Please share a memory with the family in her "Book of Memories" and make a contribution in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association at www.grahamfuneralhome.com. Katie was a special lady. She is the grandmother to my nieces and nephews and mother in law to my sister, Dana. I have known her for 17 years and she will always bring a smile to my face when I think of her.
We will see you again, Katie.
