Don McManus Obituary

Don Albert McManus NORFOLK - Don Albert McManus, 73, passed away Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010. He was a lifelong resident of Norfolk. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Connie; his daughter, Bretina; his son, Don Ray McManus; his sister, Dona Morton; and brothers, William and Michael. He was affiliated with FOP Commodore Lodge No. 3, the Police Association of Virginia, the FBI National Academy Association - Chicago, Norview Masonic Lodge No. 113 of Norfolk, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite of Norfolk, Khedive Temple Shriner - Chesapeake, Khedive Hillbillies - Chesapeake, a member of Motor Corp NASCAR, Legion of Honor, Cabiri, Royal Order of Jesters Court No. 75, Kachina Billiken Klub of Phoenix, Ariz., Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 9 as past Noble Grand, 2009 P.P. of Khedive Temple. Along with his many affiliations, he retired from the Norfolk Police Department as Det. Captain. He served in the U.S. Army as well as achieving the rank of E4 with the Army Security Agency. He attended Granby High School, Southern Police Institute of Louisville, Keeler Polygraph Institute - Chicago and graduated summa cum laude at St. Leo College. Mr. McManus was a loving and caring father and husband, giving friend, lover of life, enjoyed sharing laughter with others, to us he was "Mr. Wonderful." Visitation will be held today, Aug. 16, at 6 to 8 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, where a visitation one hour prior at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to: Khedive Transportation Fund or Shriners Hospital, 654 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23320. Condolences may be offered online at www. woodlawngroup.com.
