Brandon Ashby Obituary

Brandon J. Ashby VIRGINIA BEACH - Brandon Joseph Ashby, beloved 17-year-old son of Nicolle Ashby and Barry Koontz, died tragically on the evening of Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010. Brandon was a rising senior at Ocean Lakes High School and an accomplished athlete who loved football, soccer, and especially basketball which he played at any chance. Brandon was rarely seen without a smile on his face and known to always bring smiles to everyone else. He loved life and spending time with his friends, who he would help in any way he could. He will be missed greatly by all of his friends and family. He is survived by his brothers, Aidan and Ryan Ashby and sisters, Cara and Caitlin Ashby. He is also survived by two wonderful sets of grandparents who loved him greatly, Sonny and Patricia Jones and Stephen (Red) and Shelvia Koontz; a long with a very large, extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends during a viewing at the Virginia Beach Christian Church, Wednesday, Aug. 18, from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, at Virginia Beach Christian Church on Rose Hall Drive and Great Neck Road. Burial will follow at Colonial Grove Memorial Park. Please join the family afterwards at VBCC for a reception and fellowship. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com. Donations can be made to Chartway Credit Union, 2089 General Booth Blvd., c/o Barry Koontz. We are so thankful to the many friends who have circled us with their love, prayers and deeds.
