Esley Blassengame Obituary

Esley Blassengame VIRGINIA BEACH - Mr. Esley Blassengame, 83, passed away Aug. 9, 2010 at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. Esley was born in South Carolina. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service and also the Boston Naval Shipyard as a painter. Esley is survived by four children, Nicole Henderson, Carol Blassengame, Kenneth Blassengame, and Darryl Barr; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brother, Lucius Blassengame; and his best friends, Gregory Clark and Hershell Dunn Sr. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16, at the chapel of Keith Matthews Funeral Home, 5665 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. The interment with full military honors will follow in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The viewing will begin today at noon with the family receiving friends from 4 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at www.KeithMatthewsFuneralHome.com.

Dear cousins( Carol, Kenneth, Nicole, and Darryl ),
Sorry for the lost of your Father and my Uncle. I remember him being an understanding and giving person who liked for people to do the right thing all of the time. Hope you all cherish the pleasant memories and keep up the values and standards he instilled in all of us. Continue to live your lives to the fullest because that is what Uncle Boots would want for you all. Thank God for him and remember that we shall see him again.
