John Hampton Obituary

John L. Hampton VIRGINIA BEACH - John L. Hampton, 89, passed away Aug. 11, 2010. Mr. Hampton was born in Gates County, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wade Hampton and Lucy Eure Hampton and a sister, Inez Sawyer. Mr. Hampton retired from the U.S. Navy and from the Naval Air Rework Facility after more than 30 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Delva H. Hampton; three children, Leslie Wade Hampton and wife Glenda of Millersville, Texas, Donna H. Walker and husband Lee of Chesapeake, Sheree H. Dittmer and husband Howard of Lake Bluff, Ill.; a sister, Lucy McPherson of Elizabeth City, N.C.; eight grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be private at Rosewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Christian Fellowship or Beth Shalom Home of Eastern Virginia. Friends may offer condolences at www.kellumfuneral home.com.

I have so many happy memories from my childhood of time spent with Uncle Leslie and his family. He's always been an important part of my family and I will miss him greatly.
