William Gray Obituary

William T. Gray Jr. CHESAPEAKE - William Thomas Gray Jr., 61, of the 1700 block of Woodmill St., passed away Aug. 30, 2010 in Chesapeake. A native of Chesapeake, he was the son of the late William T. Gray Sr. and Florine Nickles Gray. He served his country in the United States Army and worked at the U.S. Postal Service. He is survived by his wife, Norma D. Gray; two daughters, Katrina Gray and Precious T. Gray; five stepsons, Ernest Denby, Quinton Hoover, John Hoover, D'ri Denby and Sherman Denby; a stepdaughter, Sharmen Bonner; a sister, Bonnie King; two brothers, Jerry and Oscar Gray; and was predeceased in death by a sister, Janette. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, with Ernest Denby officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. At www.grahamfuneralhome.com online viewing of the service will be available in his "Book of Memories" where you may also light a candle or leave a note to the family.

William was my best friend and we started at the post office at the same time in 1972 He was at my wedding as an usher in 1975 and we remained friends for the rest of his life. I would go with him for his treatments at the Hampton Veterans hospital and visit his home often. He was a really good man and a wonderful Friend

Bill and I started in the Hempstead Post Office. In 1972 and we were friends up until his death. He was an usher at my Wedding in 1973 and also the DJ at my after wedding party. Lifelong friendship. He was really a good guy. And I miss him
