Charles Barnes Obituary

Charles C. Barnes Sr. SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - Charles C. Barnes Sr., 81, died Sept. 3, 2010 at his residence. He was retired from the pest control business. The family will receive friends Thursday, Sept. 9, from 1 p.m. until service at 2 p.m. at Hernando Funeral Home. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. He leaves his wife, JoAnne Barnes; daughters, Barbara L. Noe (James) of Mississippi, Deborah C. Upshaw (Steve) of Tennessee, Elizabeth M. Schalebaum (Paul) of Mississippi, JoAnne E. Grosso of Virginia; sons, Charles C. Barnes Jr. (Terri) of Florida, Michael C. Barnes (Wendy) of Virginia, John P. Barnes of Virginia; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Williams and Elizabeth W. Barnes. Memorial donations may be made to Hugh Dancy American Legion, Post. No. 134, 2520 Goodman Road, Horn Lake, MS 38637. The members of the Virginia Beach Yacht Club express condolences to the Barnes family. Charlie was our Commodore for the year 1979. We are greatful for the service he provided, his comraderie, and sharing of his boating knowledge to our group.
