Max Schramm Obituary

Max Carl Schramm WHIPPANY, N.J. - Mr. Max Carl Schramm, 93, passed away at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital Sept. 1, 2010. Born in Kearny and raised in Bloomfield, Max had lived in Whippany for 50 years before moving to Virginia Beach in 2005. He received his bachelor's degree in engineering from the Newark College of Engineering, and his master's from the Steven's Institute of Technology. Max had worked for General Electric for more than 40 years. He was an applications field manager, determining the electrical equipment needed to provide cities with required power. He had also owned a small engineering consulting business and taught math courses at night school at the Newark College of Engineering. Max was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Whippany. He was a Mason and a Shriner, and volunteered with Meals-on-Wheels and Dial-a-Ride. Max was the beloved husband of 66 years to the late Janet. He was the loving father of Barbara and son-in-law, retired Vice Adm. Alexander Krekich of Norfolk. He is also survived by his cherished grandsons, Alex Jr. of Summerville, S.C., and Andrew of Denver. A funeral will be held at Bradley Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Road, Whippany, Thursday, Sept. 9 at 11:30 a.m. Friends may visit from 10 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park. For further information or to send a condolence, go to www.bradleyfuneralhomes.com.
