Kashief Turner Obituary

Kasheif L. Turner JACKSONVILLE - On Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, Kasheif L. Turner, known as "OneSon" or "Ka$h" was called to be one of God's angels. Hospital Corpsman Third Class Kasheif L. Turner was a graduate of White Oak High School, Class of 2002. He entered basic training for the United States Navy at Great Lakes, Ill., Oct. 2, 2002 and upon graduation was transferred to 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, serving two tours in Iraq and in November 2006 was assigned to Naval Hospital, Camp Lejeune. HM3 Turner's awards include: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Letters of Appreciation. He also received several letters of noteworthy for his athletic ability on the Navy's basketball team, "Hot Boyz." Kasheif was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vera Lee Martin and Big Burley Bear Joe Martin. Kasheif leaves to celebrate his life his parents, Anthony and Gerneice Martin; a sister, Antonette Hodges (Ronnie); his fiancée, Tiffany Swedberg; furry kids, Gaia, Jasper, Gizmo and Ivory; paternal grandparents, Jimmie and Geraldine Turner; his aunts, Robin Glaspie, Betty Jean Canty, Debra Shaw, Cynthia Martin, Pamela Davis (Dave), Yvonne Johnson (Mark), Emily Martin; his uncles, Jimmie Turner (Carolyn), James Alexander, Calvin Alexander (Sonya), Jerome Martin (Carolyn), Curtis Martin; a nephew, Javon Hodges; special cousins, Normeka Glaspie and Demetrius Turner; and a host of loving relatives and kind, thoughtful friends. A funeral was held Thursday, Sept. 2, at noon in River of Life Church, Gum Branch Road, Jacksonville. A burial was held in Coastal Carolina Veteran Cemetery Thursday, Sept. 2, at 2 p.m. with full military honors., the Rev. Dr. Harold Smith Sr., eulogist.
