Francis Gaik Obituary

Francis J. Gaik SUFFOLK - Francis John Gaik, born Sept. 23, 1940 passed away Sept. 3, 2010 at home with his family by his side following a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Gaik was born in Chicago, the son of the late Francis D. and Stella L. Gaik. He is survived by his family in Suffolk: dear wife of 38 years, Eileen M. Gaik; his loving daughter, Lisa Hiltabrand; son-in-law, William; two loved grandchildren, Ashley Marie and Ryan Edward Hiltabrand; a sister, Susan Gibbon; brother, Steven Gaik; and a beloved aunt, Alice Hunt, all of Chicago. He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Gaik Mr. Gaik, a U.S. Army Veteran of Vietnam, held the position of general manager of catering, for both American and United Air lines. He cherished his hobby of model railroading as well as his family and friends of many years. A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk, VA 23435. Interment will follow with military honors at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service starting at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society in Mr. Gaik's name.
