James Whitley Obituary

James D. Whitley FRANKLIN - James D. "Doug" Whitley Jr., 45, passed away at University Community Hospital in Tampa Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010. He was predeceased by his mother, Dolores Whitley and his brother, Raymond Trent Whitley. Survivors include his father, James D. Whitley Sr.; his brothers, Robert Kirk Whitley, Walter Scott Whitley and his wife Heather. He is also survived by his lifetime companion, Barbara Nichols. Doug was a native of Franklin, Va., but had lived in Florida for the past 20 years. He was an avid fisherman and a life member of the NRA. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave., Tampa, FL 33609. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday. A second memorial service will be held in Franklin, Va., at a later date. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311. www.diabetes.org.

Uncle Bunky, Kurt and Scott,
