Rachel Booker Obituary

Rachel Booker VIRGINIA BEACH - Rachel Booker, 87, passed away Sept. 10, 2010. She was born in Harnett County, North Carolina to the late Arthur and Myrtie Davis. Rachel was very active at Westwood Hill Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and children's choir, until she subsequently moved to Thalia Lynn Baptist Church, where she was a member for at least 20 years. She was a very proud manager at The Hub Men's Clothing Store, where she worked for over 30 years. In her early years Rachel loved bowling, and more recently became an avid gardener. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of close to 70 years, Roy Leland Booker; one daughter, Carole Burbo; one brother, R. Cecil Davis; two sisters, Margaret Tort and her husband John, and Willa Hurley; four grandchildren, Eric, Kevin, David and Jessica; two great-grandchildren, Jaylynn and Little Kevin; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 11 a.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dr. Prentis McGoldrick officiating. The family will assemble at Woodlawn Funeral Home for procession to the gravesite at 10:30 a.m., 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk, 23502. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.woodlawngroup.com.

Family of Rachel Booker,
I will always remember Rachel as hard working, caring and thoughtful.
She cared about the Hurley family almost as much as she did her own. She will be missed terribly but I know that God has prepared a better place for her in heaven. Love, Richard Hurley and Family

Reading guestbook mrs Booker was a special person who loved her family very much. How wonderful it is to have Gods word the Bible to rely on for a sure hope. It promise something wonderful for all who have lost a love one. John5:28,29 gives the hope of seeing our love ones again.
