John Wooten Obituary

John D. Wooten Sr. NORFOLK - John D. Wooten Sr., pastor of Mount Zion Pentecostal Holiness Church, passed away peacefully Sept. 12, 2010. Son of Mattie and Diggs Wooten of Pitt County, North Carolina, he is survived by his wife, Mable Gallop Wooten; sisters, Carrie Teel and Annie Johnson; brothers, Charlie Wooten, James Bennet Wooten, Carlton Wooten and Willie Frank Wooten; daughters, Lauretta Wooten and Constance Boyd (Joseph); son, John Wooten Jr.; grandchildren, Chanee' Williams, Richelle McKinney, Joseph Boyd, H. Omar Wooten and Tiffany Wooten; four great-grandchildren, Darik Williams, Jeremy Griffin, William McKinney and Sonall Boyd; stepson, Dallas Gallop (Gloria Jean); and a host of extended family members. The viewing of the body is from 6 to 8 p.m. in Graves Funeral Home, 1631 Church St., Norfolk, Friday, Sept. 17. The Graduation to Glory ceremony will be hosted at Solid Rock Church of God in Christ, 2100 Vicker Ave., Chesapeake, VA 23324 at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18. Elder Wooten will be interred in the Roosevelt Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.gravesfuneralhomeinc.com.
