Frances Southward Obituary

Frances C. Southward VIRGINIA BEACH - Frances Cole Southward, 87, passed away Sept. 17, 2010. She was born in Richmond, and was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Manning Cole and her second husband, William Joseph Southward. She was a homemaker and lifelong member of Tomahawk Baptist Church, Midlothian, Va. Frances is survived by a daughter, Joan Cole Ligon and husband Leonard "Buddy" Ligon of Chesapeake; a son, James M. Cole of Richmond; three grandchildren, Charles Joseph Cole and wife Ariel of Newport News, Angela Christine Ligon of Chesapeake and James McTyre Cole of Richmond; and loving niece, Thelma Taylor of Richmond. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. A graveside service will follow that afternoon in the Dale Memorial Park, Chesterfield, Va., at 2:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tomahawk Baptist Church, 12920 Hull St., Road, Midlothian, VA 23112. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.

Joan, Jimmy, Thelma and Families,
I am sorry to hear of Frances' passing. I have memories of your family from when both Charles and Dick were with us. You always seemed to enjoy each others presence so much. I know that this loss will create another void in your family, for which I pray God will fill with joyful and loving memories.
