Wilford Scott Obituary

Wilford Scott PORTSMOUTH - Wilford Scott, 90, of the 2500 block of Markham St., passed away Sept. 18, 2010 in his residence. He retired as a welder with NNSY after 10 years and was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II. Mr. Scott was a former member of Holy Trinity, No. 1, in Portsmouth. He is survived by his spouse, Mable E. Scott; daughter, Angelus Ellis; son, Ricky Taylor; four sisters, Adell Hunt, Ethel Mae Campbell, Marian Mozee and Cora Lee Harris (Russell); two grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, at Mount Sinai Church, Portsmouth. The Rev. Richie Sessoms and Bishop Curtis Edmonds will preside. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing will begin Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The body will be in the church Thursday at 10 a.m. Fisher Funeral Home, 1520 Effingham St., Portsmouth, is in charge. www.fisherfuneral.com.
