Milfred Rountree

Milfred S. Rountree CHESAPEAKE - Milfred Shirley Rountree, 88, of the 4800 block of Charlton Drive, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010 in a Portsmouth hospital. A native of Hobbsville, N.C., he was the son of the late Thomas and Sarah Hurdle Rountree. Mr. Rountree was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a shipfitter in Shop 11 and was the owner/operator of Youthland Clothing Store. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Marjorie F. Rountree; a daughter, Brenda Rountree of Portsmouth; three sons, Wayne Rountree and wife Joyce of Chesapeake, Glenn Rountree and wife Diane of Carrollton and Keith Rountree and wife Ida of Chesapeake; two sisters, Virginia Smith of Sandy Cross, N.C., and Norma Hinant of Chester, Va.; five grandchildren, Russell, Michael, Jayme, Abby and Brandon; and a great-grandchild, Georgia Gene. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Gene Boyce. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
