Eddie Ward Obituary

Eddie Ward Jr. SUFFOLK - Eddie Ward Jr., 93, of the 6000 block of Bradford Drive, died Sept. 20, 2010 in his home. Born in Nansemond County, he retired after 40 years with Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Little Grove Baptist Church, Suffolk. He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Ward Sr.; his mother, Mary Elizabeth Ward; a son, Samuel Ward (Jean); a daughter, Maryann Robinson; and three brothers, Samuel Ward, William Ward and David Ward. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janie P. Ward; three sons, Bruce Ward (Doris), Ronald Ward (Donna) and Joseph Patillo (Debra); two daughters, Helen Ward (Kent) and Michele Gatling; two sisters, Gracie Scott of Suffolk and Naomi Ward of Portsmouth; and a brother, David Ward of Chesapeake. Also left to cherish his memory are a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A life celebration service will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. in Little Grove Baptist Church, 6320 Towne Point Road, Suffolk. Pastor Ralph Richardson III will officiate. Viewing will be held Friday, Sept. 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. in J.T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, 4569 Shoulders Hill Road, Suffolk. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.jtfisherfuneralservices.com.
