Elwood Grant Obituary

Elwood Marvin Grant VIRGINIA BEACH - Elwood Marvin Grant, 91, of Kempsville Road, was called home to be with the Lord Sept. 18, 2010. He was a lifelong resident of Virginia Beach. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Marvin and Kathleen Cutrell Grant; his daughter, Carolyn Mae; and his wife, Verna Mae Hewitt Grant; three brothers, Edward and Lloyd Baxter and Robert L. Grant. He was a member of Kempsville Baptist Church and Kempsville Masonic Lodge 196. He retired from the Norfolk Shipbuilding and Drydock Corporation as foreman of the Blacksmith shop. He is survived by five sisters-in-law, Myrtle P. Hewitt of Virginia Beach, Melva H. Kirby of Chesapeake, Helen Hewitt of Norfolk, Linda Grant of New York, and Helen Grant of California; a brother-in-law, William T. Hewitt of Chesapeake; and many nieces, nephews and longtime friends. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.The burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Gardens on Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kempsville Baptist Church, 5204 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462 or Masonic Home of Virginia, P.O. Box 7866, Henrico, VA 23231. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.altmeyer.com.

Elwood have come to Ohio with Tommy Shelton to vist he enjoyed the horses and amish country.Was glad to have known him and to beable to call him mind friend.
