Wayne Reed Obituary

Wayne D. Reed CHESAPEAKE - Wayne D. Reed, 55, passed away Sept. 17, 2010 with family and beloved friend Joseph Clifton by his side at Sentara Nursing Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a graduate of Cradock High School and attended James Madison University. He was a retired flight attendant from U.S. Air and was employed by Stihl. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Flem and Thelma Reed. Left to cherish his memory are his brothers and sisters, Sam Reed of Cherokee, N.C., Marcia Thompson and husband Robert of Chesapeake, Martin Reed and wife Debbie of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Glen Reed and wife Deb of Anchorage, Alaska, Steven Reed and wife Dolores of Virginia Beach, and Lynn Starbird and husband Rick of Charleston, S.C.; and a host of nieces and nephews. A private life celebration will be held Saturday, Oct 2, with family and friends. A special thanks to the staff at Sentara Nursing Center Chesapeake for their care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society for pancreatic cancer research. Cremation & Funeral Services of Tidewater assisted the family.

Rest in peace Wayne. I thought I knew how to live life but watching you deal with this disease and all the effects taught me more about living life than anything I've ever seen. Rest in peace my friend.
