Marguerite Walker NORFOLK - Marguerite (Alexander) Walker, known as Bammy to her family and as Marge to her friends, left this life in the loving embrace of her family Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Marge's greatest joys in life were her family and friends. She particularly loved being with her four great-grandchildren, Carter, Gina, Cameron and Lilly. She had a lifelong green thumb, loved plants and gardening. Marge nurtured an expanding teddy bear collection and was never far from her crossword puzzles or Boggle games. In recent years she enjoyed outings with the "Ladies of the Morning" group in Harrisburg, and dinners and bingo with her Norfolk friends at First Colonial and Talbot Apts. Born in Somerset, Pa., October 1921, Marge graduated from Somerset High School with honors. She spent many decades in the mortgage industry as supervisor and branch manager in the Harrisburg, Pa., and northern New Jersey areas. She was a real estate agent for Charles Adler & Sons, also in Harrisburg, at a time when women were rare in that field. She served as secretary and recording secretary for the Lower Paxton Township Planning and Zoning Commission, the Lower Paxton Twp. Board of Supervisors, and the public hearing secretary for the Zoning Board of Adjustment for more than 15 years. Marge was the daughter of Charles and Minnie (Bittner) Alexander; and was predeceased by her sister Dorothy Gates, all of Somerset, Pa. Her memory will live forever in the hearts of her children, Candie Delnore of Norfolk, Ginger Stein of Newark, Del., and Jeffrey Walker of Egg Harbor Twp., N.J. Dear to Marge were grandchildren, Penny Marcialis of Goochland, Va., Scott Palen of Norfolk, Wendy Palen of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Jodie Stein of San Francisco, Nathaniel Stein of Providence, R.I., and Kelly Ackley of Carlisle, Pa. Marge also leaves behind other family members who were always there when she needed them. A celebration of Marge's life will be held in late spring when the roses she loved are once again in bloom, remind- ing us her presence always. The family suggests making a donation in Marge's memory to the Norfolk Botanical Garden, to the
American Heart Association or planting a pink rosebush in her memory. Always remember to tell your mother you love her.
