Arthur B. Britt Jr. PORTSMOUTH - Arthur B. "Bernie" Britt Jr. passed away after a battle with lung cancer Sept. 24, 2010. He was the son of the late Sophia "Virginia" and Arthur Britt Sr. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Charlene; two sons, Arthur B. "A.B." Britt, III and Charles S. "Scott" Britt. He is also survived by his siblings, Linda and Jimmy Seeds, Edith and Robert Walker and Jerry Britt; and his extended family, Ruth Hope, Helen and the late Donald Robertson, Max and Bonnie Paez, Kathy and Robert Saunders; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends. Bernie worked for A.G. Pinkston and A. J. Stuart Construction and retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a crane operator after 30 years of dedicated service. In his retirement, he enjoyed fishing, carpentry, helping family members with cars and other projects, having fun with his dogs and helping his neighbors with they needed him. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at Greenlawn Memorial Mausoleum by the Rev. Mike Putnam.
