Sally B. Thomas VIRGINIA BEACH - Sally Badgett Thomas, 73, passed away Sept. 23, 2010. Born Dec. 19, 1936 in Lynchburg, Va., she was the daughter of Julia and Kenneth Badgett. She graduated from E.C. Glass High School and attended Salem College in Winston-Salem, N.C. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Robert I. Thomas Jr.; a daughter, Lea Thomas Olson of New York City; a son; Robert Kenneth, wife Margaret; and two grandchildren Jay and Anne Carter Thomas, all of Richmond; a sister-in-law, Becky, husband Frank Chesnick of Virginia Beach and a nephew, Patrick Boland of Brooklyn, N.Y. Sally and her husband retired to Virginia Beach in 1998 from Roanoke. She was a member of the Cavalier Garden Club, the Sentara Women's Auxiliary, Salem College Alumni Association, Virginia Tech Prosim Society and a Hokie Century Champion. She loved playing bridge with her friends. A service of remembrance will be held at Virginia Beach United Methodist Church, 19th Street and Pacific Avenue, at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, officiated by the Rev. Ted David. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Fund, Virginia Beach Rescue Squad or a charity of your choice. Cremation Society of Virginia is assisting the family.
