Veronica Jones Obituary

Veronica Y. Jones CHESAPEAKE - Veronica Yvonne Jones, 57, of the 800 block of Quail Ave., was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010. Veronica, or "Yvonne" as she was affectionately known, was educated in the Chesapeake Public School system and attended Norfolk State University. She retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth after 30 years of faithful and dedicated service. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Campostella, where she worshipped and served faithfully. She leaves to cherish her memory three brothers, Darryl L. Jones, Iris L. Jones Jr. (JoAnn) and Kevin L. Jones of Chesapeake; one sister, Jennifer A. Holmes of Chesapeake; a special aunt, Ethel P. Thompson of Chesapeake; two aunts, Jennette Lewis and Dorothy Whitmore of Chesapeake; one uncle, Junius L. Thompson Sr. of Chesapeake; five nieces, three nephews and seven great-nephews; two sisters-in-law; two best friends, Joyce Williams and Carol Drumgo of Chesapeake; a special friend, Tyrone Smith of Norfolk; and a host of relatives and friends. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church Campostella. Interment will follow in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the church. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements. Darryl, Twink, Kevin, Jennifer and the entire Jones family, The Northern family send our prayers and wishes of strenth, faith and family unity during this difficult time.
