I send my deepest sympathies to Mrs. Roberts' family for I know that they miss her terribly, as we do here at Windsor Meade.

Ruth Roberts was an amazing woman. She was wonderfully spirited, wildly creative, and had her own smart sense of style—even at 90 years old. Like so many gals who attended William & Mary, I worked for her and her husband at Parlett’s in the late 1970’s. It was a life-changing experience, although I had no idea at the time. Ruth was always ahead of the curve. She taught me that you could easily blend antiques with something modern or quirky, that collecting greeting cards and wrapping paper (whether you needed them or not) was perfectly acceptable, and she opened my eyes to the wonderful, albeit exhausting, world of retail, which I went on to embrace and still do today. During a magical afternoon spent with her one day last summer, I was lucky enough to relive some old and cheerful memories with Ruth, and I was able to tell her how much she had influenced my life. I told her that way back then I thought, ‘I want to be like her when I grow up.’ And I still do. Ruth Roberts will be greatly missed, but she will definitely live on through those of us who were fortunate enough to know her.
