Vernette Jones Obituary

Vernette M. Jones CHESAPEAKE - Vernette M. "Ms. Finnie" Jones, 86, of the 1000 block of Bells Mill Road, died Oct. 3, 2010, in her home. She was born in Old Norfolk County and was a member of Fairwood Agape Baptist Church, Portsmouth. She was the mother of St. Andrews COGIC under the leadership of Bishop A. J. Jones Sr. Survivors include three daughters, Jeanette Farrell, Eve Niles and Dionne Sturdifen (Stephen); one son, Walter Edison (Madie); one sister, Reba Lambert; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, friends and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Walter Jones. A funeral will be held Thursday, Oct. 7, at noon in Fairwood Agape Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Lee presiding. Burial will follow in Roosevelt Memorial Park in Chesapeake. Corprew Funeral Home is in charge.

I'm going to miss you Aunt Finnie. i will always remember the frist time i saw your face standing at the door the day Ms Nottingham bought Ander and i to you. You were the best Froster Mother we could have ever ask for. We did'nt want to leave you, but we had to go.Thanks for introducing us to Jesus!! Love you ! Valarie ( Richmond,Va)

Jeanette, Dionne, Eve and Walter I am so sorry to hear of your loss. God Loved her the BEST. I will continue to pray faithfully for strength so that you all will be strong during this time. I know that God is carrying and leading you every step of the way. Continue to remember the GOOD times and all of her wise advice. Aunt Finnie as I called her is resting. To God Be the Glory. To the Jones family, Sister Vernette and Pastor Walter were as fine a couple as the Lord could put together. They were good godly role models for us and we thank the Lord for them being in our lives and allowing us in theirs. May the warming love from the Lord God be your comfort, strength and peace.
