Nancy Ward Obituary

Nancy E. Ward GATES - Nancy Kay Eure Ward, 63, of the 1500 block of Sandbanks Road, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2010 in her home. Mrs. Ward was born in Portsmouth and was the daughter of Faye Booth Eure of Chesapeake and the late Vernon Roscoe Eure. She had retired as a retail manager with Family Foods in Gates. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Henry Ward; and her sister, Sandra Schwab. Surviving in addition to her mother are two daughters, Deanna Ward Flynn of Chesapeake and Malinda Miller and husband Ed of Gates; a sister, Kimberly Ann Morris of Chesapeake; a brother, Vernon Ray "Butch" Eure of Portsmouth; and 10 grandchildren, Paul, Morgan, Bryan, Josh, Dylan, Sarah, Brennan, Colin, Rachel and Texas. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main St., Gatesville, by the Rev. Tracy Clayton. A private inurnment will follow in the Miller Family Cemetery near the home. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service Thursday and all other times at the home of her daughter Malinda, 1561 Sandbanks Road, Gates. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any chapter of the American Diabetes Association. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.millerfhc.com.

Deanna, Although, I never met your mom, I know she must have been a very nice and sweet Christian woman. Losing her is difficult but cherish the memories of her as they will always be with you until you meet again in Heaven.
