Godofredo Fiesta Gabut VIRGINIA BEACH - It is with deep sadness that the family of Godofredo Fiesta Gabut announces his passing on Oct. 2, 2010. He left peacefully with his family by his side at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, and is now in peace with the Lord. He was a devoted husband, a beloved son, a cherished brother and cousin, and a loving uncle. He was a gentle friend to many and was loved beyond measure by his family. He was 62 years old and was born in Alcala, Pangasinan, Philippines Dec. 11, 1947. He was raised and educated in the Philippines, where he graduated from the Pangasinan School of Arts & Trade with a degree in automotive and stationary marine engineering. After graduation he worked as a seaman in the Philippines and had visited many ports in the Southern Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. He came to the United States on September 1981, where he worked at Norshipco (BAE Systems) for the past 29 years as a machinist. He enjoyed visiting many friends, relatives and co-workers around the world. He is survived by his wife, Merlinda Gabut; two brothers and five sisters: Estan Gabut (nee Lolita), Fely Gabut, Mila Fernandez (nee Gabby), Remy Manalili (nee John), Christy Gallarin (nee Lambert), Aurora Latham (nee John), Romy Gabut; as well as 10 nieces and nephews, Marvin, Marisel, John, Jason, Dan, Kathleen, Lurielyn, Christine, Christian and Jenny. He was also a great- uncle to Roel and Benjamin. He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted father, Benjamin Gabut and dear mother, Lucia Gabut. Our family will miss him very deeply and our sadness is beyond measure. Visitation is at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home at 1485 Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach, today, Oct. 7 and Friday, Oct. 8, from 4 to 9 p.m. Service is at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 521 McCosh Drive, Chesapeake, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9. Interment will follow in the Colonial Grove Memorial Park, 3445 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
