Modesto Gay Obituary

Modesto F. Gay SOUTH MILLS - Modesto Francis Gay, 93, of the 100 block of Old Swamp Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010 at Carolina House. Mr. Gay was a native of Manhattan, N.Y., son of the late Giovanni and Felicetta Gay and husband of Elsie Louise Horton Gay of the residence. He was a retired manager of an officers club, a member of Holy Trinity Catholic VFW Post No. 6060, and the 17th Airborne Division Association. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Judith Lynn Gallant of Fall River, Mass.; two sons, Charles Frank Oliver and wife Jaye of West Lake Village, Calif., and James Lee Oliver and wife Sharn of South Mills; a sister, Pauline Olha of Virginia Beach; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Francis Olha of Virginia Beach. A graveside funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Father Jaime Perez officiating and military honors rendered by the VFW Post No. 3160. Twiford Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church St., Elizabeth City, is serving the Gay family. You may express condolences to the family by visiting www.twifordfh.com.
